Anonymous Call Rejection Service Information

The anonymous call rejection or ACR is a subsidiary of Caller Line Information or CLI. ACR fetches the information that CLI provides the exchange about a specific number that calls. It allows the phone user the choice to reject a particular number with which the CLI is suspended.

This becomes very useful for people inundated with hoax calls. It helps them to stop and at the same time identify the caller. Incoming callers might hear a tone indicating that this line will not accept calls from blocked number. Most of the time, this facility comes free in case of landlines.

Using the Facility

There are various codes better known as vertical service codes which can be used to enable and disable anonymous call rejection. To enable ACR you can dial *77 and in order to disable ACR you can dial *87.

ACR Subscription

There are telemarketers who try to trap potential clients by blocking their caller IDs so that the number appears to be private or anonymous which is not legal. In these situations you can subscribe for ACR with your phone service provider. When you use this service as subscribed with your service provider any person who has blocked his or her number cannot get through. In such situations your phone will not ring but the call will be captured and the caller will receive a message mentioning that you do not receive calls from blocked numbers.

The anonymous call rejection facility does not allow specific number to your telephone. Only numbers which are unidentified or numbers which appear as private or anonymous on the caller ID of the phone can be blocked using ACR service.

ACR Costs

ACR comes as an optional service which can be used with caller ID. A recorded message will let the caller who chose to bar their numbers from being displayed to remove the bar and call back again.

To make the best use of ACR we can follow few of the following steps:
1. You can encourage your friends and family members to enable selective blocking facility so that it ensures that you always get their calls.
2. In case you have selective blocking for priority ringing enabled you can still receive calls from numbers on your list which guarantees that you never miss any important call.

3. Turning on and off of ACR service is pretty easy and can be used accordingly. One of the best example might be that you are expecting an emergency call and not sure whether the number is blocked. But the call should go through. In such occasions you can dial *87 to turn ACR off. And then turn it on according to your own whim.

4. Most of the calls we receive are from family, friends and from person we are acquainted with. So selective blocking with ACR is the best choice which makes sure that these calls are never avoided.

5. In case you want to block your own number for callers who do not have ACR, it can easily be done by pressing *67 before dialing the number. There is no charge involved.
