Arizona Superior Court Information
The Arizona Superior Court’s civil department is committed to exploring different ways to make justice more affordable and accessible to the general public. The court is dedicated to reducing delays, cost cutting, facilitating access for the public and providing many choices in resolving disputes without court trials. There are approximately 50,000 civil cases are filed every year.
Civil cases include legal conflicts among individuals, corporations, businesses, partnerships and government entities. Most of the civil cases are the result of property damage, personal injury, medical malpractice and contract disputes. The court is setting up new court programs that are dedicated to facilitate public access, reducing costs, reducing delays and providing choices to resolve disputes.
Criminal Department
Every year more than 28,000 criminal cases are filed in the superior court in Maricopa County. From the past decade, there has been an increase of 90 percent in cases of felony that are filed in the superior court. The number of first degree murder cases has also increased by 30 percent.
Currently, the criminal bench is working in close collaboration with other criminal justice agencies to considerably reduce jail population, coordinate case transfers from justice courts, expand the drug court program and streamline criminal case management.

Pima County Superior Court
The Superior Court in Pima County of Arizona has issued an order of protection to prevent acts of domestic violence. According to Pima County a person who believes that they or their family members may become victims of domestic violence can submit a petition to any court for the issuance of an order of protection.
In order to file an order of protection you need to be:
• a spouse or former spouse
• someone you had a child with
• a person you live with now or lived with
• a parent, grandparent, grandchild, child, parent in law, brother or sister, stepparent, stepchild, brother in law or sister in law.
You can file a petition for an order of protection in any of the following courts from Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at:

An emergency order of protection can be requested by contacting the Tucson Police Department (741-4444) after 4:30 pm on weekdays or anytime on a weekend or holiday or else you can contact Pima County Sheriff’s Department (740-4900).
