Baltimore County Court Information and Location
Baltimore County Court is the circuit court where trials cases are handled. It has general jurisdiction over civil, criminal and juvenile matters. It can exercise full common law as well as equity powers over these cases. The circuit court also has additional powers as well as jurisdiction as laid down by the state's constitution and Maryland law. It is also the only court in the county that can arrange for a jury trial if requested. The areas of operation of the Circuit Court for Baltimore County are as follows:
· Felony cases (including those involving death penalty)
· Misdemeanor cases (if there is a request for a jury trial)
· Civil cases (involving disputes that amount to more than $20,000)
· Divorce, child support, custody, child visitation cases

The Baltimore Circuit Court also has the authority to hear and decide appeals that are directed from the District Court and particular administrative agencies. The Circuit Court of Baltimore County, Maryland, handles a lot of cases each year. According to the statistics, the number of cases filed in 2007 was 32,321 (4,566 juvenile cases, 8,125 criminal cases, 9,756 civil cases, and 9,874 domestic cases).

Baltimore County Circuit Court: Employees
The total number of employees working for Baltimore County Circuit Court is 104. This includes 17 full-time judges who are selected on the basis of a competitive election procedure. All of them are attorneys with experience in their field and are appointed by the Governor. The term of service of the judges is 15 years. Along with these full-time judges there are a number of other officials who hear and decide particular cases. These officials are as follows:
Masters (1 full-time and 6 part-time): family law matters and juvenile cases, like compensation cases and spousal or child support cases.
Retired Judges (4 part-time): matters during the pre-trial period regarding contested divorces, malpractice, workers compensation claims, personal injuries, automobile torts and such other actions.

Baltimore County Circuit Court: Family Division
The Baltimore County Circuit Court has a Family Division that encourages mutual agreement between the two disputing parties in a family matter. If that is not possible, the judges and masters of the court take up the responsibility to conduct a fair hearing and decide on the case, keeping the interests of both the parties in mind. Baltimore County Juvenile Drug Court Program
The Baltimore County Juvenile Drug Court Program is also an important part of the Baltimore County Court. This program works on the basis of offering group and individual therapy and counseling, drug testing and court appearances. The aim of the program is to prevent juveniles from drug abuse and bring them back to normal life. You can contact Angela R.
