How to Find and Access Colorado Arrest Records
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, a division of the Colorado Department of Public Safety, is responsible for the maintenance of arrest records in the State of Colorado. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has a CCH, or Computerized Criminal History, database. This database stores all reliable information on Colorado arrests. This data is based on the fingerprints that the different law enforcement agencies of the state provide.
Access to Arrest Information
Colorado arrest records contain information the general public has full right to access. However, accessing juvenile records, information regarding warrants and sealed records are not allowed. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation, or the CBI, in an exclusive contract with KTI or KT international has decided to allow common people, various corporations and all others in the State of Colorado to search their official arrest records and criminal records. You can call KTI’s toll free number 1-800-882-0757 on all days between 9.0 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., except on Saturdays and Sundays. Apart from this, you can also mail a request to the authorities at:

Conducting a Search
There are certain procedures to be followed to obtain record of any Colorado arrest. Also, there are a number of limitations in the procedure. They are listed as follows:
• You have to pay a fee for every search you want to conduct. This fee remains constant irrespective of the search result. Also, if more than one record matches your search, you have to pay a fee to view each of those records. For each search a fee of $6.85 is charged and a fee of the same amount is charged for each record view. The fees are non-refundable and must be paid in money order form, business and cashier checks, or through VISA and Mastercard; the CBI does not accept any personal checks. For a manual search, you must submit a written form to the CBI and pay a fee of $13.
• It is mandatory that you provide the first and last name of the individual you want arrest records about correctly. You must also enter the correct date of birth. Apart from these, giving the Social Security number and any additional information like the race, gender or any identifying mark is not compulsory but these may help in bringing about more accurate search results.
• You must keep in mind that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issues search reports on arrests for various criminal activities in the State of Colorado. You cannot request to search any records from another state or from the federal database; nor can you request to view records that are “sealed."
• If you feel the information provided is inaccurate, contact the Identification Unit of the CBI at 303-239-4208. In case of any corrections, the CBI will be provided the relevant documents by the arresting agency.
• You can either conduct a batch check or check an individual. In case of the former, you can enter a batch of names and conduct a search. You can then view the arrest history of each individual by entering their unique identification number. Visit https://www.cbirecordscheck.com/common/uniquenumber_help.htm to learn about these unique numbers.
• The search may take two to three days to complete. You will be mailed the reports at the address you provide.
• Colorado arrest records are forbidden from being used “by any person for the purpose of soliciting business or pecuniary gain." So before you gain access to any records, you must sign an agreement saying you are not about to use the information for such purposes. You will be denied any access whatsoever if you do not agree to these conditions.
Using the Records to Ensure Your Safety
Colorado arrest records are maintained for the benefit of the public. If you abide by the rules and regulations, these arrest records can be accessed without much trouble and can help you in numerous ways. You can gather information about any person who was arrested for any crime he was convicted for.
