Conducting a Connecticut Inmate Search
The Connecticut Department of Correction maintains records of all criminals charged with any crime in Connecticut; these records are available to the public. The CDC's records contain information on offenders convicted of committing crimes, offenders who have been charged with committing a crime and are currently on trial, and offenders who have been incarcerated. The department works to rehabilitate the offenders in an effort to reduce their likelihood of committing crimes again upon release. The department also aims to re-establish inmates into society and assists them in searching for employment and housing.
The Purpose of the Connecticut Department of Correction
In addition to its services in rehabilitating criminals, the CDC maintains its inmate records so that the public can stay informed about the status of inmates incarcerated in Connecticut prisons. The CDC offers this information to the public in the form of the Connecticut inmate search program. There are two broad aims of the Connecticut inmate search program: first, the information on criminals can be used by citizens of Connecticut to stay informed about offenders and any threat they may pose. This knowledge will help citizens take appropriate precautions. Employment agencies can also utilize this information to screen prospective employees for any crimes they may have committed in the past. Secondly, the inmate records can be used by the victims of crime and/or their families. They may want to know about the current status and location of an offender. They may also request to be notified when a particular inmate escapes from incarceration, is released, or comes to live in their communities.
The Department of Corrections updates the inmate database regularly. This ensures that, in most cases, the information available to the public is accurate and current. However, since the department also holds those who are being tried but have not yet been convicted of a crime, the database lists these individuals as inmates when they have not actually been sentenced to a jail term.
