According to the legal dictionary, the term sex offender defines someone who has committed a crime related to sex (also known as sex crime). The thing, which needs to be remembered, is that the definition of sex crime is not universal and differs from place to place in United States as well as in other countries.

Whenever someone commits a sex crime, that person’s name is registered in the sex offender registry. This database not only keeps the information of existing sex offender’s residence but also of that person’s current activities. The registry also maintains records of people who have completed their criminal sentences. The sex offender registry is made available to the members of the general public as a precautionary measure.

County Sex Offender Search

All the information of a country sex offender can be searched from a public database. This database helps people to find out whether a sex offender is living in their neighborhood or not. The information on Level 1 offenders is not available on public database, as it is prohibited by law. There is a public hot-line to access this information offline also but you have to provide name and one other identifier like date of birth, social security number, exact address or driver’s license number of the offender.

You can search the online edition of the database by providing last name, name of the county or the zip code. If you search by the last name, you will get the list of all the county sex offenders with that last name. With zip code, you will be able to know the names and other personal information of all the sex offenders living in that particular area. Searching by county will give you all the sex offenders staying in the county.

A county sex offender list is propagated by enlisting all the cases reported to the Division of Criminal Justice Services. In many cases, sex offenders were imputed a risk level based on their crimes found to be against the constitution by the federal court of law.
