Elyria Municipal Court Judges
Municipal court is presided over by judges Lisa Locke Graves and John R. Musson. The administrative duties of the court are carried out by Clerk Eric J. Rothgery. Elyria Court covers the cities of North Ridgeville and Elyria, the townships of Elyria, Lagrange, Columbia, Eaton, Carlisle and Grafton, and the villages of Lagrange and Grafton.
Elyria Municipal Court Cases
Small claim cases are filed in the Elyria Court. The one who is filing the case cannot sue the other party for an amount more than $3,000. Cost for filing is $75 and for every other defendant an additional charge of $6 is applied. Small claims cases are heard by the local magistrate. The Elyria Municipal Court is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for court holidays. Elyria Court Forms
The Elyria court has made it easier for the residents to fill out court forms. Most forms are available on the website of the court. The court accepts electronic transmissions, facsimile and email transfer of relevant documents and filings. Electronic documents need to be duly filled with necessary details like the title of the document, the contact details of the applicant and also the precise number of pages that have been transmitted. The caption of the case and the case number should also feature in the filled out form. Electronic documents filed without these details will not be accepted.
