Conducting a Florida Inmate Search
One can obtain information about the inmates incarcerated in Florida prisons at the inmate population information search page, located at http://www.dc.state.fl.us/ActiveInmates/search.asp. Inmates who are on probation or parole, or who have already been released from prison, will not appear in the search results on this website.
Steps for Using the Online Florida Inmate Search
Here are a few simple steps that should be used to search for information about Florida inmates:
1. Enter the inmate's name, DC number, or any other identifying information in the appropriate fields. You do not need to provide all of the inmate's information. A match on any one identifier will return the result that you are searching for. If you provide too much information, you might accidentally exclude the desired record from the search results.
2. After entering the inmate's information, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit Request button. The search results are titled “Inmate Population Information List.” The list will display all inmates who matched your identifying data.
4. Click the number that appears in the first column to open the “Inmate Population information Details,” where you will see the inmate's photo and some accompanying information.
5. If you cannot find an inmate who was definitely incarcerated, he or she may have already been released. You can check the inmate release list at http://www.dc.state.fl.us/inmatereleases/search.asp.
Finding an Inmate's DC Number
1. To find an inmate’s DC number, visit the inmate population information search page. The database on this website does not include the information of inmates who are on probation or parole or those who have been sentenced to a term in a county jail or federal prison.
2. Enter any information that you do have, and submit the request.
3. The website will display the inmate's information in a list. The inmate’s DC number is the six-digit number in the third column.
If you do not see the information that you were searching for, click on the number appearing in the first column of the inmate population information list page. This will take you to the inmate population information details page, which includes the inmate’s photo and other details that are related to the inmate’s incarceration history.
What if the Inmate Doesn't Appear in the Search Results?
If the search does not turn up the inmate you were looking for, it could mean that the inmate is serving probation or parole in Florida. In this case, you could look again using the supervised population information search at http://www.dc.state.fl.us/activeoffenders/search.asp, or search all offender records within the department at http://www.dc.state.fl.us/appcommon/searchall.asp. If the inmate is in a county jail in Florida, you can obtain his or her information at the county sheriff’s office. You can also access information on inmates from the Federal Bureau of Prisons website at http://www.bop.gov.
If the inmate is incarcerated in another state, you can visit http://www.dc.state.fl.us/http://www.peoplepublicrecords.org/crimepage.html or http://www.corrections.com/link/show/20 to obtain his or her incarceration information.
