Kansas Sex Offender Registry Information
The Kansas sex offender registry is administered by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. This registry offers information on sex offenders who have been charged with sex crimes under the Kansas Offender Registration Act (K.S.A. 22-4901). The statute was modified on 1st July 2005 to distinguish a sex offender from an offender convicted of other crimes.
Kansas Sex Offender Information
Information on the Kansas sex offender registry is updated every 15 minutes. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation makes sure that the information available on the website is accurate. However, the information available on the website is what the sex offender himself or herself provides to the law enforcement department and hence there are chances there might be discrepancies in the information provided.
If you come across any information that to your knowledge is inaccurate, or any other data that is marked as “being verified,” you can get in touch with the KBI Offender Registration Unit over the phone or by sending an email.
Information on sex offenders convicted prior to 1994 is not on the KBI’s website. The information is not available for public reference subject to decision of the Kansas Supreme Court in State v. Myers, 260 Kan. 669 (1996).
You can be sure of the data obtained from a sex offender registry only when it is validated by a fingerprint match. It is only then that you can arrive at a conclusive decision about an offender after having acquired other personal details about the offender.
