The records are housed in The State of Michigan Vital Records Office. You can visit the office in person at 201 Townsend Street, Capitol View Bldg, 3rd Floor, Lansing, MI 48913 between the business hours, from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
Michigan Vital Records
The vital records office maintains the record of birth, marriages and death that happened in the state post 1867. Divorce records in the state are being maintained from 1897. These Michigan public records can be obtained on the payment of the requisite fee through credit or debit cards.

All tasks related to the corrections of the marriage records are carried out by the clerk of the respective county in which the marriage was solemnized. Records of criminals in the state who can be a threat to the society also fall in the domain of Michigan public records. The criminal records in the state, that include records of charges, convictions and arrests are maintained by the Criminal Justice Information Center or the CJIC.
The Michigan sex offender registry can be accessed from http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us/. You may find it difficult to access the registry at times owing to the bulk of traffic on the website. The website features the mugshots of the offenders. The information available on the website is updated regularly so that the public can access recent and accurate information from time to time. You can also access information on sex offenders in the state through the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender.
The Michigan state police also provides another tool for the residents of the state to conduct a public record check called ICHAT or the Internet Criminal History Access Tool. All you need to do is pay a nominal fee of $10 and you can have all information for a particular individual. In case of non profitable institutions that are involved in charitable activities, this fee is waived. You can access service on the link https://mi-mall.michigan.gov/ichat. You need to register on the system and then access the information available through it.
Vehicle records in the State of Michigan can also be obtained upon fulfilling certain conditions. As a result residents of the state can access vehicle, driving, recreational and watercraft records. Each inquiry of the vehicle records amounts to $7.
