Nashville Court Information, Location and Jurisdiction

Criminal Court, Chancery Court, Juvenile Court, and Probate Court all operate under the court system. About Nashville Municipal Courts
The Criminal Court Clerk of Nashville, Davidson County is obliged to perform the clerical duties related to the day-to-day operations of the criminal court, which includes both the General Session Court and the State Trial Court. Nashville Juvenile Court
The Nashville Juvenile Court presides over parental rights, visitation rights, child support, dependency, neglect, abuse, and status offenses like truancy and unruly behavior. The court is also empowered to deal with delinquency cases. However, court case information is classified due to the sensitivity of juvenile proceedings. One elected judge and eight magistrates preside over these cases that are tried at the Juvenile Court.

Nashville Probate Court
Nashville’s Probate Court is entrusted with the responsibility of handling all clerical work related to the cases filed in the Probate Division of the Seventh Circuit Court. It thus has to deal with all affairs related to administering a deceased person’s estate, including the probation of wills. The court shares judicial rights regarding creating and supervising conservatorship and guardianships of minors as well as incapacitated or incapable adults. The court handles other types of cases like adult and minor name changes, adoptions, emancipations, and all legal matters related to trusts. Nashville Chancery Court
The Chancery Court is a court of equity that is empowered to sit over Tennessee constitutional matters, employment lawsuits, contract disputes, commercial litigation, state tax disputes, workers compensation, applications for injunctions, and writs of certiorari. Additionally, the Davidson County Chancery Court also acts as the court of appeals for several administrative bodies like the Tennessee Department of Labor and the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
