New Jersey Prisons and Inmate Records

The inmate records of New Jersey are supervised by the NJDOC and by the sheriff's office of each county. Some county sheriff’s offices provide online access to inmate records. Most of these online databases display photographs of the offenders. The Vinelink system provides information and services for crime victims.

Offender statistics can be accessed at http://www.state.nj.us/corrections/http://www.peoplepublicrecords.org/offstats.html. The aim of the NJDOC’s online offender search is to secure public safety and the welfare of New Jersey inmates. It provides community access to information about New Jersey offenders; the information is provided according to New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act, or OPRA.
