The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is the federal appellate court which hears appeals from the following districts: the Western District of Washington, Eastern District of Washington, Districto of Idaho, District of Oregon, District of Hawaii, District of Nevada, District of Montana, District of Arizona, District of Alaska, Northern District of California, Eastern District of California, Southern District of California and Central District of California. The court also hears appeals from the District of the Northern Mariana Islands and the District Court of Guam.
The court's headquarters are located in San Francisco, but it also meets in Pasadena, Portland and Seattle. This court is the largest of the U.S. Courts of Appeals.

In order to be eligible for this office, they must either be 70 years old or have served for seven consecutive years. However, if no active judges meet these requirements, they are waived.
