Topics Covered in Special State DUI Programs

DUI programs are organized within the states to make the citizens aware of the DUI, DWI and the consequences and penalties related to it. DUI is the acronym for Driving under Influence and DWI is the acronym for Driving while Intoxicated. Both of these are grave offenses and are termed as misdemeanors or felonies depending on the kind of DUI convictions in the past.

DUI programs refer to special classes that are organized to tutor people about DUI, DUI laws, and DUI penalties. Once a person is arrested after DUI charge, he has to undertake an alcohol and drug abuse test. This test decides the duration and essential stipulations of DUI classes.

Special state DUI programs are arranged with an educational purpose and as an awareness drive against DUI offenses and consequences.

Types of DUI Programs

First-time DUI offenders have to attend short-term programs which can be completed within a day or within a couple of days on the weekend; the class hours are not extensive. Offenders who have any sort of DUI history or those found with high blood alcohol level have to attend longer DUI classes. These programs are usually time-consuming because they last for many weeks.

DUI Programs and Topics

In short-length classes the attendees are taught DUI laws and the harmful effects of alcohol on the body system and on other human lives and property. They are required to hear anecdotes of DUI offenders or DUI victims. But long duration DUI classes are more rigorous. The DUI Program attendees need to abstain from alcohol during classes and be prepared for random alcohol or drug screening. They are required to complete assignments given to them at home and bring a family member to more than one class. For short-term DUI programs attendance is the main criteria unlike its longer counterpart.

Special State DUI Programs

There are several DUI programs arranged by the state authority. Among them are specialized programs which benefit many people. CADDTP or The California Association of Drinking Driver Treatment Programs refers to a non-profit association established in the year 1986. In recent times it is known to employ almost 200 people who participate in special DUI programs. The members of this organization participate in the DUI programs in the role of a counselor, instructor or administrator. The site http://www.caddtp.org/ has more information on CADDTP.

San Diego organizes special state DUI programs under the banner of Center for Alcohol & Drug Studies & Services. The aim of these programs in San Diego, like other states, is to make men realize the negative impacts of drunken driving. They aim for changing the attitude and behavior of the accused to help them be responsible citizens in the future. Their mission is to encourage people to identify solutions for their alcohol and drug abuse problems and to overcome all the hindrances.

The state of Florida offers Florida Safety Council DUI Counterattack Programs. Apart from Driving under Influence courses there are victim awareness programs too. Check out the site http://www.floridasafety.org/courselist.asp?cat=7 for more detailed information.
