The background report includes all arrest information about the subject. If the subject has no criminal records you will be informed of such fact. Also, arrest records that have been sealed or expunged are not included in the search result.

Accessing Your Own Tennessee Background Check Records

You may also request a copy of your own background records in the state of Tennessee. An individual is entitled to request a federal check only for himself. If you have applied for a job and need your criminal history records, you may access the Tennessee Open Records Information Services, or TORIS. This name-based check is available only for this state. You may request a background report for a fee of $29. Additional facts such as the date of birth, social security number, name, etc. increase the accuracy of the reports.

The name-based check is a fast and simple way of conducting a Tennessee background check. However, you cannot be completely confident about the facts unless a fingerprint-based check is performed.

You may request a background check in the state of Tennessee through TORIS in two ways. If you own a credit card and have a valid email address, you may submit an electronic application to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. You have to complete the form, make the payment of $29 through your credit card and also provide them with the required information about the subject. The results will be emailed to you.

You may also pay the fee via money order, download the form from the Internet and fill it out properly. You may then send it to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation either by mail or by fax. The background report will be mailed back to you.
