The U.S. Tenth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel

The U.S. Tenth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel is the federal appellate court which hears appeals from bankruptcy courts in the following districts: the District of Utah, District of Kansas, District of Colorado, District of Wyoming, District of New Mexico, Western District of Oklahoma, Northern District of Oklahoma and Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The main website for the U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Tenth Circuit is found at www.bap10.uscourts.gov/. Here, you can find access to electronic court records through PACER, or Public Access to Court Electronic Records. You will first need to become a registered user of the system, however. There are nine active judges currently serving the Tenth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. When a case is heard by the court, three judges will decide the outcome. These three judges must not be from the district where the original bankruptcy case was filed.

Among the nine judges, one is chosen to served as chief judge, who handles daily business of the court. This position is rotated among all active judges, and in order to qualify they must be at least 70 years old or have served for at least seven years. If no judge meets these requirements, they are waived.
