Texas Municipal Court Information and Location
Each incorporated city in Texas has a municipal court. Texas municipal courts cover more than 900 cities in Texas. The official website of the Texas Municipal court is http://www.courts.state.tx.us/courts/mn.asp.
Texas Municipal courts make all records available to the general public online. Visit the Office of Court Administration (OCA) website at http://www.courts.state.tx.us/oca/. On the left hand menu bar you will notice a link titled Request for Records which will take you to http://www.courts.state.tx.us/rules/openrecstate.asp.
The availability of the OCA records is not governed by either the Texas Public Information Act or the Federal Freedom of Information Act. OCA records are governed by the Rule 12 of the Judicial Administration. The citizens of Texas are free to order such records. For this a written request with enough information to identify the record must be made in writing to:

Functions of Texas Municipal Courts
The court is concerned with several services such as:
• On site training for the court staff, especially judges and court administrators
• Help in the preparation of the court administration manual, which includes the docket records, deadlines for notices, dismissal dockets and so on
• Processing of the dockets
• Assisting in developmental projects like the online court management system which would benefit the staff as well as the citizens of Texas

Texas Municipal Court: Jurisdiction
The Municipal court in Texas has jurisdiction over the following matters:
• Violations of city ordinances
• Class C Misdemeanors which do not involve a jail term
• Violations of public health and sanitation laws
• Fire safety violation
• Zoning violation
• Issue of Search and Arrest Warrants
• Limited jurisdiction over owners of dangerous dogs.

Programs Conducted by the Texas Municipal Court
The clerk’s office is critical to the proper functioning of the Texas Municipal court. The clerk’s office conducts the following programs:
• A 32 hour new clerk seminar for fresh inductees costing $200.
• Court administrator seminar for $100
• Regional clerk seminar for $50
• Traffic safety conference for $50
• Maintenance of the official version of the court records
• Providing the records to the general public on request
