Take Necessary Actions with Trap Services for Unknown Callers

The incidents of harassment over the phone are increasing day by day. Prank calls, obscene calls, blank calls, threat calls as well as unknown calls are faced by almost every individual. For managing all such calls there are certain services and system databases in place. These databases basically work as computer networking.

Protocols like TCP or Transmission Control System and the UDP or User Datagram Protocol have numerical identifier capabilities. This is done by specific port numbers which are unique process-specific protocol codes. The trap services for unknown callers work with the help of these protocol systems which is controlled by the IANA or Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.

The calls can be unknown in a number of ways. Sometimes the number may be blocked. Therefore, when you receive a buzz from that number, your handset screen would show “private number”. Harassing calls can also be received from unblocked numbers. Trap services ensure that the harassing calls are handled tactfully without interfering or recording the conversation. But  in case the caller uses multiple phone lines then it becomes quite difficult to track the actual source from where the call is subjected.

Stopping Unknown Calls

If the threatening calls at your number are frequent then first contact your local telephone exchange. Your complaint will be directed to the “annoyance desk”. If the harassment aggravates then contacting the local law enforcement agency would be the safest step to be taken. If there isn’t a caller ID installed in your handset then the phone company will set a “TRAP” system on the phone line. This system will let the phone company to retrieve the number from where the phone call is been directed.

Traps are generally applied for two weeks. Don’t forget to maintain a log for keeping a track on the date and time of the obscene calls. The best feature of this service is that the phone company does not ask for any processing fee. This system can even work if the call is an international one. The Trap call services simultaneously cover a wide range of features like voicemail transcription through email and SMS, recording calls that are incoming, caller ID and address display, blocking caller IDs and many other multiple plans.

Procedure

After registering a request, the trap call service dictates the users for reprogramming the cell phones. This ensures that all the missed calls, unanswered calls and rejected calls are sent to the Trap Call service database. When there is a blocked call displaying in the user’s screen, the call is automatically sent to voice mail. This happens exactly after a certain button is pressed. The number is then fed to the Trap Call system where it is gradually unveiled. Finally the call is re-sent to the users where the actual number is displayed. While all these steps take place the caller hears a normal ring tone.

After a call is trapped, the information gathered is sent to the law enforcement personnel. The customer has no authority here initially. These personnel try to stop the obscene calls by arresting or warning the caller.
