Conducting a Utah Inmate Search
The Utah Department of Corrections (DOC) attempts to protect the citizens of the state by strictly enforcing the orders of the courts as well as those of the Board of Pardons and Parole. It also follows certain guidelines in order to rehabilitate both habitual and first-time offenders by putting them through a number of professional and community services.
Utah Department of Corrections Inmate Search
The Utah DOC has created an online search engine in order to help victims of crime as well as the general public by providing important information about inmates incarcerated in the state. The Victim Information Notification Everyday (VINE) hotline service is available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. This system allows the general public to conduct a Utah inmate search by means of a touch tone telephone; any relevant information about a particular inmate is accessible through this system. The user must enter a name or inmate number to obtain specific information about an offender.
The current status of the inmate, including the inmate's release date, can also be obtained by means of this system. It is possible to register yourself to receive notification whenever an inmate is released or escapes from the state correctional facilities. You will also receive a notification upon the inmate's death or release on parole. In addition, users of the system can be notified about any inmate transfers between different correctional facilities in the state. Contact 1-877-884-8463 or access www.vinelink.com to register for updates with VINE.
Alternatively, you can obtain inmate information by contacting the administrative offices of the DOC, located at:
Department of Corrections
14717 S Minuteman Dr.
Draper, UT 84020.
You can also call the department at 1-801-545-5500 to obtain this information. An inmate locator search can be conducted online by visiting the official search page of the Department at http://corrections.utah.gov/contentservices/offendersearch.asp. The process of searching through the records is relatively simple; users can search by name, though they must enter both the inmate's first and last name. The search engine will list the age, offender number, and aliases of the inmates it finds, as well as their current legal status. Details of housing, however, are not made public for security reasons.
