Conducting a Utah Warrant Search
If you are staying in Utah and want to check your own arrest warrant records, you may conduct a Utah warrant search to know the required information. The Utah Justice Foundation offers a warrant check program that you may use to conduct a warrant search.
Types of Warrants
Warrants are generally issued by the court. Two types of warrants are arrest and bench warrants. An arrest warrant entitles the police to arrest and detain the mentioned person. An arrest warrant is issued when a specific crime is committed and the person mentioned in the warrant is believed to have committed the crime. A bench warrant is nothing but a different type of arrest warrant. A bench warrant is usually issued against a person for contempt of court. An outstanding warrant is, on the other hand, an arrest warrant that has not yet been executed.
If you have a warrant against you, the warrant check program will help you to know whether there is an outstanding warrant against you and also the reason for the issuance of the warrant. As mentioned earlier, an arrest warrant that has not yet been served is referred to as an outstanding warrant. There can be several reasons for a warrant to be outstanding. They are:
1. The person the warrant is issued against is avoiding law enforcement intentionally.
2. The person is not aware that there is an arrest warrant issued against his or her name.
3. The agency (usually local police) that is authorized to arrest the person has a backlog of other warrants.
Any of the above mentioned reasons or a combination of the three can result in an arrest warrant becoming an outstanding warrant.
Warrant Information Assistance
The warrant check program aims to help all defendants through their case and receive justice. District court records are accessible online, and the court docket will reveal to you if a warrant is outstanding. These records include all felony and Class A misdemeanor warrants that are outstanding. If you need to know any information urgently before you receive the report, call Utah Justice Foundation at (801) 268-3600.
You may also call the court directly. However, in case you are not sure if there is a warrant against you, it is better not to call the court before you talk to your attorney. You may use this warrant check program to know about warrants issued against you only and not about someone else.
This program has been designed to help the defendants. All you need to do is fill out the form that can be found at http://www.utahjusticefoundation.org/email_forms/http://www.peoplepublicrecords.org/warrant-search.html, and the Utah Justice Foundation will be at your service within very short time.
The Utah Justice Foundation also has a court docket request program. The court docket information will allow you to know about the warrants issued against you, the charges, and if any hearing is scheduled.
The sheriff’s office in the different counties also offer warrant search.
