Volusia County Court Information
Volusia county court is a limited jurisdiction court. Appeals from the administrative agencies are directed to the county court. There are sixty-seven counties in Florida and 322 judges serving the county courts. The county of Volusia falls under the Seventh Judicial Circuit. It is served by 10 county court judges in addition to eighteen circuit court judges. In Volusia County, the Clerk of the circuit court also serves the county court.
Jurisdiction in Volusia County
The county court of Volusia hears cases on tort contract, property related cases involving a sum of money between $5,001 and $15,000, and several other civil cases. Cases involving claims of money up to $5,000 are also heard in the county courts. Apart from the cases so mentioned, the Volusia county court hears cases on exclusive misdemeanors, preliminary hearings, and traffic infractions, but it does not handle cases on parking rule violations.
Volusia County Courthouses
There are four county courthouses in Volusia situated at four different locations. The Volusia County Courthouse is located at 101 N. Alabama Avenue, DeLand, FL 32724. The clerk’s office hours are from 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays. The present Clerk of Volusia County is Diane M. Matousek. The other three courthouses are the Justice Center in Daytona Beach, the Courthouse Annex in New Smyrna Beach and the Courthouse Annex in Daytona Beach.
