County Texas Sex Offender Information
The county Texas sex offender law states that a crime is sexually violent under the federal law or the Uniform Code of Military Justice if the elements of the crime are much like the elements described in Section 21.11(a)(1), as in indecency with a child, 22.011, as in sexual assault, 22.021, as in aggravated sexual assault, 43.25, as in sexual performance by a child, or 20.04(a)(4), as in aggravated kidnapping with intent to violate or abuse the victim sexually. The county Texas sex offender laws also describe those acts as sexually violent if their elements are similar to the elements described in Section 30.02, as in burglary, if the offense is punishable under subsection (d) of that section.
Registration for Texas Sex Offenders
According to the county Texas sex offender law, any sex offender, adult or juvenile, must register his or her name only if he or she was convicted or adjudicated on or after September 1, 1970. When registering, the offender should provide his or her full name, pseudonyms, date of birth, residential address, race, sex, weight, height, eye color, hair color, social security number, driver's license number, shoe size, photograph, and fingerprints. The registrant should also provide details of the offense that he or she is being convicted or adjudicated of, the age of the victim, the date of conviction, and the punishment received. The offender must disclose information regarding his or her status of supervision, occupational licenses that are held or being sought, place of employment, vocations being pursued, higher education institutions that he or she is attending, any internet identifiers, and the offender's risk level at the time of registration.
An offender has seven days to register these details from his or her date of arrival in the municipality or county of residence. The registration laws are also applicable to out-of-state offenders. If the offenses are of a serious nature, the offender is required to register for life. The offender's address information will be registered under county Texas sex offender law and verified as well. Penalties are imposed on offenders if they fail to comply with the county Texas sex offender law.
Public Availability of Sex Offender Information
The general public has access to any information regarding a sex offender aside from social security number, phone number, and driver’s license number, along with some online identifiers and other information that could reveal the identity of the victims. As of May 29th, 2009, as many as 57,050 offenders have registered their details under county Texas sex offender law.
