Dupage County Court Information
The Dupage County Court has limited jurisdiction over both civil and criminal cases. While the clerk of the county court house can be contacted at DuPage County, P.O. Adoption Records
All adoption records for Dupage County are maintained by the Circuit Clerk of the court. This is done in accordance with the regulations set by the Supreme Court of Illinois and cannot usually be viewed by the members of the general public. The court is authorized to grant permission for viewing all adoption records in the county.
Copies of the official documents can only be made upon receiving specific orders from the court as well. However, the guardian ad litem appointed by the county court has every right to examine the adoption file of his ward without requiring any sort of court order for doing so. Any resident of Dupage County can directly file a criminal or quasi criminal case in the county clerk’s office. There is no charge associated with filing a criminal case in Dupage County. However, you need to contact the local police department or the State Attorney of Dupage if you need to make a complaint.
The felony division of the county court handles severe cases of offenses including murder. The misdemeanor division is concerned with Classes A, B and C types of misdemeanors, most of which attract both monetary fines as well as imprisonment in the state prison for less than a year.
The misdemeanor division of the county court is also concerned with offenses related to the use of alcohol or drugs, or a combination of both.
