The Department of Public Safety of the New Mexico State records and maintains information on the sex offenders as per the requirements of the state statute. The official website of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) in New Mexico provides information to the citizens about the locations of the registered sex offenders living in New Mexico.
According to the ‘Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act’, implemented in the State of New Mexico, information about the registered sex offenders and the contents of their registration details is available from July 1, 1995. The accuracy of the information available about the registered sex offenders in the state depends on the information provided by the offenders in their sex offender registration form. The information about the residency of the sex offender changes frequently.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) updates the information about a sex offender if a sex offender relocates to the state of New Mexico, changes his residency, or changes his permanent residency. The department annually updates the status of the sex offenders and also reports if an offender re- registers himself into the state’s sex offender registry.

Contents of a Sex Offender Registration Form
The sex offender registration form contains information such as the offenders last name, first name, any other aliases, date of birth, age, sex, race, hair color, weight, height, eye color, information about his residency, any vehicles used by him, the model of the vehicle, registration number and the state in which it was registered, level of education, employment status, work address, details about the crimes committed by the offender, the arresting agency, date of each conviction, the sentencing court, release date, case number and recent photograph if available.
Conducting a Search for Sex Offenders through the Sex Offender Registry in New Mexico
According to the state laws of New Mexico all sex offenders need to register with the local county Sheriff’s office, report to the assigned law enforcement unit on an annual basis, report any change of residency. The residential address of all sex offenders are not released or made available to the general public. The state laws of New Mexico allow the release of the addresses of only those sex offenders who may come in contact with children.

To conduct a search by using the name of the offender, you need to provide the last name of the offender. Since many people might share a common last name, this type of search may not generate the one that you are looking for. A fingerprint comparison is essential to identify the offender you are looking for.
The city search will generate the name and location of all registered sex offenders residing in that particular city.
The zip code search and street search allows you to narrow down your search to a specific area or neighborhood.
When you look up the entire state or search the list of absconders and convicted sex offenders, you will receive details about all the sex offenders such as their name, addresses, details about their location, and residential address.
